Often, sealing problems in plants are only detected after completion and in operation, although the sealing material used should obviously be capable to perform better. Unfortunately, it still happens too often that the gasket, as a component of the machine or plant, is thought of last. In the course of the process, this product, which is initially considered only as a casual matter, later receives all the attention - when leaks occur during operation. If an unplanned shutdown strikes or large parts of a production line have to be recalled (e.g. in the automotive sector), the associated costs can quickly rise to previously unimagined heights.
